Denial

Okay, so here is the prime example of why we should not be in denial:

Last March I went for my eye examine. I was, as my Doc said, borderline on the need for bifoculs....ew....I said to him, "yeah, cuz I need a reminder that I'm aging"....well, I of course, being the stubborn person I am said, "No, I don't want bifocal contacts." Ultimately, he suggested that I get some "cheater" glasses---oooo--sounds naughty, "cheaters."

So I hop on down to the local WalMart and score me some super cheap cheater glasses so I can read better, but do you think I'm taking those babies anywhere? No, hell no. The moment I put them on my girls giggled and said, "you look like a gramma." I'd say that put it to rest whether I would be taking the cheaters out on a date.

There we are, the whole fam, out to lunch at Wild Buffalo Wings.....me, dieting, tells the waiter,

Me: "I'll have the Buffalites." (sounds diet-like, right?)

Waiter: young, deer in the headlights look stares at me a moment, then says, "Um...ma'am, do you mean the Buffalitoes?"

Me: "Excuse me?"

Waiter: "We don't have anything called a buffalite on our menu."

Me: "Right here, (I point) buffalites," I repeat, looking further foolish.

Waiter takes a look at where I'm pointing: "Oh, yeah, those, um.....those are buffalitos."

Me: "Well, looked liked buffalites to me. I'll have those."

I hand him my menu without making any eye contact, my heartless, younger husband, bursts into laughter. I swear, one day he will age and he will regret these moments he has mocked me!

Oh, and Lane went to lunch with collegues the other day at Wild Buffalo Wings and guess what the funniest story at the table was.......?

Don't feel bad. I've had bifocals for well over a year now, and we all know that you are a week older than me...
